MATERIALS AND TOOLS

For Necklace:
    Fancifuls brass pieces

    Small scrap of scrapbook paper
    Small piece of ribbon
    Small alphabet rubber stamps
    Black permanent ink stamp pad

    Pair of French ear wires

General materials for both projects:

    Book page
    Tim Holtz Distress ink stamp pad- Tea Dye
    Vintaj Patina- Verdigris
    Vintaj Glaze
    Rubber gloves
    Small paintbrush
    Golden brand gel medium- matte finish
    Clear sealer, spray or brush on- satin finish
    Fine sandpaper
    Alcohol
    Paper towels
    Scissors
    Pencil
    E6000 adhesive
    Toothpick
    Plastic lid
    Needle nose pliers
    Round nose pliers
    Wirecutters
 

Gather materials.

Trace large and small brass teardrops onto book page. Cut out, trim to fit. Don’t cover holes.

Stamp “fly” on small scrap of paper, tear edges.

Ink edges of paper cut outs with Distress ink using makeup sponge.

Sand teardrop blanks with sandpaper to rough up surfaces.

Clean all brass pieces with alcohol.

Apply gel medium to back of teardrop paper cut outs, adhere to top of brass teardrops. Brush another coat of gel medium on top, let dry. Adhere “fly” sentiment to large teardrop with gel medium, brush on a topcoat of medium, let dry. Seal with spray or brush on sealer, let dry. Apply Glossy Accents by Ranger on “fly” sentiment, let dry.

Wearing rubber gloves, squeeze a small amount of Vintaj Verdigris Patina onto plastic lid. Apply with paint brush, one piece at a time, to brass birds and connector, wipe immediately with paper towel, leaving patina in crevices to show detail, let dry. Apply a coat of Vintaj Glaze to all pieces, let dry (5).
 

Squeeze small amount of E6000 onto plastic lid, apply to back of large bird with a toothpick, glue to large teardrop, let dry.

Put beads on head pins and eye pins, trim, make loops.

For necklace, attach beads to connector and chain. Attach toggle clasp. Attach connector to large teardrop, tie small pieces of ribbon through jump ring, trim, fray edges.

For earrings, attach beads to small birds, hang teardrop and bird on earwire.
